Archive assists in development phdstudies of courses phdstudies to be offered as part of the School curricula and elsewhere within the Claremont Colleges. As a writer, teacher, and consultant for more than sixty years, we have created and articulated the concepts that have made management a field of legitimate academic inquiry and professional practice. Key to the professor’s vision of management is the belief that the most important asset of any organization is its people. The manager’s primary challenge, the professor believes, is to prepare and free people to perform. phdstudies The professor’s interest in management extends beyond the scope of traditional business to include nonprofit organizations and entrepreneurial enterprises. Indeed, the influence of his thinking is so pervasive that he is fairly called the “father of management”.

The Archive contains the life works of this extraordinary thinker and “social ecologist”. This body of work will serve students, managers, scholars, and researchers for generations to come as the works and thoughts of the professor continue to ripple through our intellectual community. MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Archive is to preserve the profound intellectual legacy of the professor and to manage that legacy to the benefit of the scholarly community, the institution and the practice of management as a whole. The Archive’s activities encompass four major initiatives: (1) maintaining and making available the physical archive, known as the “Collection” phdstudies.
